ARCTIC has unveiled the Freezer 13 CPU cooler, which the company believes will carry on the legacy of the renowned Freezer 7 Pro. The improved tower heatsink features four high-performance heat pipes and a 92mm variable speed fan for efficient and low noise CPU cooling. The maximum cooling capacity of this newly improved heatsink is rated at 200W; it can definitely handle the high heat loads from overclocked processors.
A layer of ARCTIC MX-4, the latest thermal compound by ARCTIC, has been pre-applied to the base. The four U-shaped heat pipes are soldered to an array of 45 aluminum fins for efficient heat dissipation. The ultra-quiet 92mm PWM fan operates between 600rpm and 2000rpm.
ARCTIC's custom mounting mechanism makes installing the Freezer 13 both easy and fast. The mechanism uses custom push-pins; you do not need to remove the motherboard to install the heatsink. The same mechanism can be used across various platforms from both Intel and AMD. The Freezer 13 is 'transport-proof' and can withstand accidental hard knocks, as the mounting bracket is fibre reinforced.
ARCTIC claims the Freezer 13 outperforms other coolers in the market at the same price point. At an MSRP of US$35.90 / €27.60 (excl. VAT), it is an attractive solution for gamers, overclockers and PC enthusiasts. The Freezer 13 comes with a 6 year limited warranty and will be available in late October 2010.
